On August 17, 2023, Grimsby Power filed an IRM application with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) to change rates effective January 1, 2024.
An IRM application is a mechanistic adjustment to distribution rates based on inflation and the OEB’s assessment of the distributor’s efficiency. Inserting these components into a formula result in a 4.80% increase to Grimsby Power’s distribution rates.
The OEB issued its decision on the application on December 14, 2023. Based on the Decision, a residential customer consuming 750 kWh will have a total monthly bill increase of approximately $2.11 after taxes and the Ontario Electricity Rebate, effective January 1, 2024.For more information regarding the application please visit here.
You could get a monthly, on-bill credit of $35 or more. The OESP credit amount depends on how many people live in the home and the combined annual household after tax income. Effective March 1, 2024 income eligibility thresholds change making more homes eligible for the credit. Beware of energy scams: Home energy assessments, audits, inspections and home visits are not required to apply for the OESP. Apply now or learn more at OESP.ca
