Tree Programs

 

Grimsby Power hires certified arborist companies with trained utility arborist personnel to complete our Tree Trimming Program.
Hiring these companies for tree trimming allows Grimsby Power personnel to continue to build and maintain your electricity system.

Grimsby Power sectioned the territory into three areas for the tree trimming program.
Each area is trimmed once every three years.

Tree Trimming Schedule Map

East

  • Area #3 – Lake Ontario to the North, Niagara Escarpment to the South, Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. boundary to the East and Nelles Road to the West.
  • Area #6 – Niagara Escarpment to the North, Mud St. (North side) to the South, Russ Road to the West, Fairbrother Road and Thirty Road to the East.

Central

  • Area #2 – Lake Ontario to the North, Niagara Escarpment to the South, Nelles Road to the East, Roberts Rd to West.
  • Area #5 – Niagara Escarpment to the North, Mud St (north side) to the South, Russ Road to the East, Inglehart to the West.

West

  • Area #1 – Lake Ontario to North, Niagara Escarpment to the South, Horizon boundary to the West and Roberts Rd to the East.
  • Area #4 – Niagara Escarpment to the North, Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. boundary to the South, Horizon boundary to the West and Inglehart to the East.
  • All trees, limbs and branches are trimmed to a minimum clearance from the nearest conductor as follows:
    • 4 metres for all high voltage (primary) distribution lines
    • 1 metre for all voltages less than 750V (secondary lines)
  • The manner in which the tree is trimmed will depend on where the tree is in relation to distribution
    equipment as shown below.
