On March 21st and March 28th, 2013, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) issued two Decisions affecting rates charged by Ontario utilities effective May 1, 2013. The Regulatory Charges portion of the electricity invoice will decline $0.07 per month for all customers. The Delivery Charges portion of the electricity invoice will increase by $0.79 per month for Residential and GS<50 (small business) customers. A summary of the rate changes is as follows:
- ** The Wholesale Market Service rate will decline from 0.52 cents/kWh to 0.44 cents/kWh
- ** The Rural or Remote Rate Protection rate will increase from 0.11 cents/kWh to 0.12 cents/kWh
- ** A new Smart Meter Entity charge will come into effect to recover costs related to the implementation of the smart meter grid in Ontario. This will add $0.79 per month to the Delivery Charges portion of the electricity invoice for residential and GS<50 (small business) customers.
