On June 29, 2012, the Government issued Ontario Regulation 197/12 under the Ontario Clean Energy Benefit (OCEB) Act to limit the financial benefit for eligible customers to the first 3,000 kWh/month of consumption. The regulation is effective from September 1, 2012. The Regulation can be accessed from the e-laws website.
The eligibility for the program has not changed and all residential customers, farms, and small businesses will continue to qualify for the OCEB.
The amending regulation contains a provision to exempt residential consumers requiring the use of medical equipment operating on electricity, from the 3000 kWh/month cap. Consumers that wish to use this provision will be required to submit a form that includes information and statements reflected in the amended regulation. A template of this form is shown in the following link: OCEB Medical Declaration Form.
