We understand that power outages can be inconvenient and we thank you for your patience as Grimsby Power staff work diligently to restore power and provide information to our customers.
On April 19, 2019 portions of the Town of Grimsby experienced an unplanned outage. One outage that occurred at approximately 8:00am and another outage that occurred at approximately 9:00am. The outages were caused by two separate issues. The first issue was related to a failed piece of equipment. The second issue, and the largest, was a loss of supply from Hydro One.
Our crews were dispatched immediately and repaired the failed equipment by approximately 9:20am. Our crews also contacted Hydro One to resolve the issue surrounding loss of supply. When there is a loss of supply from Hydro One the issue is occurring outside of our service territory and Hydro One is responsible for restoring the supply. Our crews assisted Hydro One to resolve the issue. The supply from Hydro Once was back up at approximately 10:20am with our crews working until approximately 10:30am to resolve any minor issues related to the loss of supply.
During the outage - information was posted on our website and we immediately responded to emails through info@grimsbypower.
During Friday’s outage Grimsby Power’s afterhour’s phone service provider also lost power. Their outage paired with a large volume of calls resulted in “dropped” calls. Grimsby Power is reviewing options to reduce the number of dropped calls.
We would like to thank you for your patience during these unplanned outages and we will continue to work diligently to restore power to you our customers.
